Resolution: SAVE MONEY! Here’s What One Week of Groceries For $100 looks like!

Psssst…. Have you heard that the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year? This may very well be true, but once those holiday bills all collectively start to roll in come mid January– we can’t really say that we maintain those same wonderful thoughts about the so-called whimsical holiday… are we right?! So to help combat the post-holiday, financial blues we’re sharing how YOU can buy groceries for one week… on just $100!

One Week, ONE Hundred Dollars nWorth of Groceries – Brit, Team Ambrosia

Okay, so you may think this to be quite the impossible task that I have bestowed upon myself… but trust me when I say that my time spent as a budget-conscious, university student definitely prepared me on this one! Looking back, I am actually super impressed with how much I was able to create with groceries on such a limited allowance, so rest assured, this is actually do-able, and your wallets will be very thankful for it!

The key to shopping on a budget is to A. PLAN out your meals for the week, prior to your weekly grocery duties, B. get CREATIVE with your recipes – one simple ingredient can take you VERY far in terms of recipe creation, and C. work with the SPECIALS! If you try and follow these three steps, shopping on a budget can work well for both your bank account AND meal variety and nutrition levels.

Meal Plan Idea

Breakfasts

  • For all seven days: Overnight Oats; Large Flake Organic Oats mixed with banana and Natur-A Almond Milk

 Lunches – Switch lunches every other day

  • 3 Lunches: La Tortilla Factory, grilled vegetable wraps (red pepper, onion, avocado) with side tomato soup
  • 4 Lunches: Cooked brown rice, mixed with beans, crushed tomatoes and onions

 Dinners

  • 2 Dinners: Yorkshire Valley Drumsticks marinated in organic pasta sauce, with a side of roast potatoes and side mixed greens
  • 1 Dinner: Natural Smoked Sausages with sautéed vegetables and roast potatoes
