Manly Movember Products

Happy Movember everyone!! Since this month is all about bringing awareness to Men’s Health in all forms, we wanted to kick November off accordingly with a post specifically dedicated to Men’s health, featuring two of our brand new Featured Products!

Men’s Health & Beauty Products – Brit, Team Ambrosia

Okay, first things first… I “mustache” you a question… did YOU know that Ambrosia carries a wide-variety of health AND beauty products catered specifically to men? Well, prepare to have your mind blown, because we totally do! PS. Do you see what I did there?! Pun COMPLETELY intended!

ANYWAYS… onto a more serious note, Movember is a really wonderful movement that is designed to change the face of men’s health, and bring more awareness to both preventative and curative measures. I therefore wanted to showcase some of the men’s health products that we carry here at Ambrosia to help all of you “Mo Bros” out there lead an overall healthier lifestyle with some of November’s Featured Products!!

 Decode: Men’s Products

decodeDecode is an all-natural, sulphate and paraben free, vegan men’s personal care products line. What are sulphates and parabens you ask? Both of these ingredients have a long history in the health and beauty product industry; sulphates in particular are the foaming agent found in your conventional shampoos and toothpastes.

So what’s the problem? There have been a few studies demonstrating that both of these traditional beauty ingredients can actually negatively impact your health! For example, parabens have been shown to alter hormone activity and sulphates have the potential to break down proteins, and in some instances this may lead to a degenerative effect on your body.

SO… what’s a guy to do? Invest in some non-toxic, natural and good quality men’s product lines… like Decode! They offer a vast array of products like shampoos that are made with oils, deodorants made with witch hazel, grapefruit extract & baking soda, and soap bars that are made with activated bamboo charcoal & coconut and avocado oil!

All of these products offer up an effective, natural and non-toxic way to take care of ALL of your beauty needs!

Iron Vegan: Athlete’s Blend

Maintaining a physically active lifestyle is SO important for your overall wellbeing! But it’s also important to ensure that you’re obtaining the proper amount of nutrients to help fuel your body in order to uphold this active lifestyle!!!

Iron Vegan: Athlete’s Blend is designed with the most ingredient conscious athlete in mind with 30 grams of protein per serving. It has a smooth, creamy texture and is now available in both a vanilla and chocolate variety at Ambrosia! Athlete’s Blend works to enhance your performance with plant-based nutrition and allows your body to recover from the stress and oxidative damage caused by physical activity.

Below is one of my favourite smoothie recipes!! Try it out with Iron Vegan: Athlete’s Blend and let me know how you like it!

BLOG TWO – Leftover Halloween Candy Bars

Now that Halloween has come and gone, it’s time to figure out what needs to be done with all of that delicious leftover Halloween candy… because there’s ALWAYS room for more! So today, we’re sharing a gluten-free, leftover Halloween candy bar recipe (with plant-based options) that’s suitable for both the kids AND grownups! Enjoy!

Repurposed Halloween Candy: DIY Leftover Candy Bars – Brit, Team Ambrosia

I have to admit that I am a little sadder than what is probably deemed socially acceptable now that Halloween 2016 is officially over… only 362 days left to go until next years’ freaky festivities!!! Sigh, so far away!!

So in a dire attempt to uncover some sort of silver lining in this extremely sad (in my humble opinion) situation, I’ve decided to squeeze every last ounce out of Halloween 2016 with these gluten-free, leftover Halloween candy bars!

  • 2 ¼ cups Bob’s Red Mill Coconut Flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda – Ambrosia’s Own
  • ½ teaspoon of sea salt (plus more for sprinkling on top)
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter – OR vegan margarine
  • 2 cups of coconut sugar
  • 1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk – OR 1 tbsp ground flax seed and 3 tbsp water!
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cup roughly chopped leftover Halloween candy of your choice

  1. Preheat the over to 350 degrees.
  2. Whisk the dry ingredients together (except for sugar) in a medium sized bowl.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk butter until it begins to brown, remove from heat.
  4. Transfer the butter to a bowl  and allow to cool
  5. Add coconut sugar to the butter. Beat for about 2 minutes
  6. Add egg (or substitute) and vanilla until combined.
  7. Add the dry ingredients slowly and combine
  8. Press your dough into a greased and parchment lined 9’ x 13’ pan. Press the chopped candy into the dough and add on top as well. Bake until lightly golden on top, about 18-20 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven, set aside to cool
  10. Once cooled, cut into bars
  11. Serve!

Let us know if you try these out!
