Every year when April 22nd rolls around, we have the opportunity to reflect on how we can make a difference in our environment and the world. One way to make a positive change is to become more aware and mindful of our product choices by investing in Earth Friendly alternatives. Whether positive or negative, every product has an affect on the environment! So in light of Earth Day coming up this Sunday, we thought that it would be helpful to share the impact that our April Specials have on our Planet Earth in comparison to their conventional counterparts!
How Products Can Impact Our Planet!
Typically when we purchase groceries, supplements or beauty and household products we often take into consideration its impact on our overall, individual health! But what if we were to broaden our thought process and start taking into consideration that same product’s impact on the health of our environment? As I’ve mentioned in a previous blog post, the zero waste movement and our focus on investing in products with minimal environmental impact has been making HUGE strides… which is GREAT!
So today I wanted to continue on with this amazing trend, by sharing a comparative chart to showcase the difference in Environmental Impact between our April Specials and their conventional Alternatives.
Materials Used | Biodegradable? | Texture?
Caboo Paper Towels & Facial Tissue | Fast-growing grasses like bamboo. These grasses grow back quickly & do not have to be replanted! And PS. They use a specific type of Bamboo that is NOT part of a Panda’s Diet! | Caboo products are 100% biodegradable. Their fibres quickly dissolve back into the Earth. | Soft & durable. Natural or recycled paper towel and tissue can get a bad rap for their rough texture. But Caboo’s sugarcane and bamboo fibres produce a much softer product than recycled paper! |
Conventional Paper Towels & Facial Tissue | Trees. Trees do not grow back after being cut down. Roughly 83 million paper towel rolls are made from trees each day. | No. | Soft & durable. |
Compostable? | Biodegradable? | Bleached?
If You Care Parchment Baking Paper | Yes. Not to mention, this If You Care product is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. | Yes! Certified by USDA Certified Biobased Product. | No! Conventional parchment paper is typically bleached using chlorine and various other chemicals that have a negative impact on the environment. The If You Care Line doesn’t require any bleaching for their baking parchment paper! |
Conventional Parchment Baking Paper | No. This parchment paper also uses trees for their products, however they are not certified by the Forest Stewardship Council certified forests. | No. | Yes. |
How They Clean Drains? | Environmental Impact
Ecozone Enzymatic Drain Cleaning Stick | Using natural bacteria & enzymes | This product is certified as an Eco-Friendly Product, Palm Oil Free Product and Allergy Friendly |
Conventional Drain Cleaner | Uses many chemicals and bleaches | Not only can conventional drain cleaners damage plumbing systems, it can burn skin, irritate eyes and hurt the lungs if used improperly. Also, the ingredients used are not good for the environment. |
So… will you be making any product swaps this Earth Day?!
