 Beach season has – knock on wood – ARRIVED and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Whether you live near, or frequent, the Toronto beaches or plan to escape to the lakes of the Great North… preparing beach appropriate snacks is oh so essential for those long, sun soaked days! We’re listing our favourites TODAY!

Beach Snack EssentialsBrit, Team Ambrosia

There are not many things that top a picnic on the beach… and (let’s face it), there are not many things worse than antsy, hungry children after a long day of splashing around in the waves. Therefore, beach picnic = a win, win situation for everyone involved!

However, the typical food trucks that line the boardwalks of our beautiful beaches, although delicious, may not always offer up the healthiest of snacking options – plus not to mention, the last thing I want to do in a bathing suit is chow down on fast food French fries… no thank-you! So here’s a list of some healthier options to pack for the day!

  1. Oranges

Low maintenance & easy to prepare!!! This juicy, sweet fruit is a great option to pack for long days at the beach! Not to mention, this vitamin C packed powerhouse is GREAT for your skin – which is paramount when you’re spending your days at the beach!

  1. Cauliflower Chicken Wings – by Ambrosia Team member Leanna!

Chicken wings mouthwatering!!! Here’s the recipe she followed!!! *** Inspired by “Hot For Food” Blog!


1 head of cauliflower (approx. 4-5 cups of florets)

1/2 C unsweetened Silk Almond Milk

1/2 C water

3/4 C Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Flour

2 tsp garlic powder

2 tsp onion powder

1 tsp of paprika

1/4 tsp sea salt

1/4 tsp ground pepper

1 tbsp buttery spread

1 C frank’s red hot sauce

Salt & vinegar wing sauce:

1 tbsp buttery spread

3 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp water

sea salt, to taste

  1. Watermelon

Watermelon might just be THE perfect beach snack… it’s hydrating and contains high levels of lycopene (helps to support and protect your skin cells!!!).  Cut up a few slices and you’re good to go!

  1. Kombucha

Swap the soda for some bubbly, refreshing kombucha!! If your kiddos aren’t a fan of the infamous pungent, vinegary flavour, have them try Tonica Kombucha for something a little less harsh! I’m a personal fan of the blueberry or peach flavour!

  1. Organic Toasted Coconut Chips

Crave something a little bit crunchier? Try packing organic toasted coconut chips instead! They’re currently on sale for the month of June for $4.44/lb so this would be a great, cost effective way to get your chip fix at the beach!
