5 Ways to Spice up your Home This Fall with Apples
I’m definitely one of those people that enjoys decorating for every single holiday & season so I can REALLY get into the spirit of things, and fall is absolutely NOT an exception! In fact, fall just so happens to be my very favourite of seasons & I enjoy just about every little part that comes with it – temperature drops included!
If you’ve read a few of my blogs on here before, you’ll know that I’m a fan of incorporating produce or earthy elements into home décor! I find that it really brightens up any space with a fresh dose of vibrance & helps set a more natural, laid-back and casual tone! Plus it doesn’t hurt so bad that you get to eat your decorations after you’re through with them!!!!
Below are just a few different ways that I like to use apples to warm up the home… JUST in time for Fall & Thanksgiving!!!
1. Bring them to your tablescape!
I wrote about this tablescape on the blog last year, which you can find HERE… What I love so much about this table setting is that it is completely timeless, and something that you can recycle year after year! Not to mention, this is a relatively inexpensive form of décor yet it makes a pretty impactful, elegant statement! This could not be a more perfect setting for your Thanksgiving dinner!!!
2. Bring Natural Scents into your Home
If there’s one thing that truly sets the ambiance it’s scent…. Especially around the holidays! I find that scent has this really fantastic ability to trigger warm, familial memories so this is a really great & effective way to embrace the season in FULL throttle!
There’s just one itty, bitty problem…. Conventional fragrances & candles are typically laced with a concoction of various chemicals – which can, at times, lead to a bit of a sensory overload & cause sensitivities… NOT GOOD!
This DIY Pot Simmer uses naturally fragrant ingredients like apples or cinnamon sticks to create a wonderful aroma throughout your home!
Here’s how to do it…
You will Need:
- A Pot
- 2-3 Cups of Water
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Sprigs of Rosemary
- Apple Slices
Directions:
- Fill the pot with water
- Add in the cinnamon sticks, sprigs of rosemary & apple slices
- Simmer on low heat & let the magic happen!!
3. Candle Holders
I stumbled upon this idea on Pinterest and as SOON as I saw it, I knew that it was something that I HAD to put in my condo!!! I love this little apple candleholder & I am thinking that these would also be perfect to incorporate into your table setting over Thanksgiving!
This was a really simple DIY – all that’s required is an apple, tea light candle and a knife! Simply cut a small, circular chunk out of the top of the apple, insert the tea light candle and light!!!
4. Place Holders
I’m a HUGE fan of these adorable placeholders! They actually serve two purposes here – you can strategically place them to keep bickering family members apart from one another over the holidays AND your guests can eat them once dinner has started!
Simply take an apple & a thick piece of neutral paper (you could even use cardboard here) – write each of your guests name on them! Then tie the card to the apple stem (using twine or ribbon) & place an apple placeholder on each of your guests’ plates!
5.Glass Vases
This look has elegance written ALL over it! Fill a glass vase up about half way with water and add apples! EASY right?! You can use this as a centrepiece for your table, place it in the foyer, or simply have it out on the counter in your kitchen! You could ALSO add flowers, or any other decorative pieces to this project! Your options are endless and this incredibly simple, easy DIY will guaranteed make a MASSIVE impact!!!
So besides actually EATING them… what are some of your favourite ways to use apples?!
